The Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera Wins Prestigious CES Innovations Award

The Polaroid Z340 instant digital camera received the 2012 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award. Featuring a full-function 14.0 megapixel digital camera and integrated ZINK® printer, the Polaroid Z340 is the next step in the evolution of the famed instant camera.

The Polaroid Z340 instant digital camera combines the joy of instant photo printing with a digital feature set. It received the accolade for being a digital camera that incorporates an integrated ZINK printer. The 6.9cm-LCD display flips up and works as a viewfinder. Images can be viewed, cropped and edited before printing and are automatically stored on the internal memory. Additional options allow for the manual adjustment of sharpness, contrast, colour saturation and white balance. Especially noteworthy is the ink-free zero ink printing technology: dye crystals in the photographic paper are instantly activated by heat and enable the immediate printing of vividly coloured, permanent pictures.

Since 1976, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has awarded the prize for technically outstanding and innovative products in various categories. The Polaroid Z340 received the accolade in the Personal Electronics field for its cutting-edge technology and exceptional design.

A pre-eminent jury of independent industrial designers, engineers and media representatives assessed the nominated products. The CEA organizer of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the largest international tradeshow for Consumer Electronics, is sponsor of the prize presentation.

AgfaPhoto has a new trim look for spring

Two new AgfaPhoto wide-angle cameras with HDR function

Spotted the first signs of spring? Then that means that there's nothing quite like the great outdoors for all amateur photographers and their faithful camera right now. The two new OPTIMA 103 and OPTIMA 104 digital cameras from AgfaPhoto make it easy to capture those first shots of spring. Measuring in at only 16.9mm or 18mm in depth they are particularly slimline and practical – although anything but lean in features.

The 4x optical wide-angle lens, HDR image capture, 12-megapixel resolution and the High Definition picture resolution (16:9) ensure sharp, colour-rich and deep-contrast shots every time. The AgfaPhoto digital cameras can even spot every laugh with the face and smile detection feature. OPTIMA cameras incorporate the red shutter button of renowned AgfaPhoto design. The AgfaPhoto OPTIMA 103 and 104 are available in photography retail shops and online stores as of April.

Mt. Everest Expedition, May 2009

Mountain climber Billi Bierling was the first German woman to climb Mount Everest via the southern route. The climb along that route is challenging in and of itself, but the altitude of 8,848 meters is what makes this climb dangerous. In order to capture this unique experience, she was carrying the AgfaPhoto OPTIMA 830UW as a reliable companion in her luggage.

Billi Berling says about the camera: “It was great to have the light but robust AP OPTIMA 830UW with me on the summit of the mountain. It worked perfectly in an altitude of 8,848 meters, which cannot be taken for granted! It is frost-proof, which is equally indispensable at temperatures and altitudes like that. Even when I once dropped it into the snow during an ascent, I didn’t have to worry due to it being shockproof and waterproof”.
